Message from new Women in the Outdoors Regional
Coordinator
 10/11/2007
Greetings NWTF chapter officers!
This is Wendy Andersen,
the new Women's Regional Coordinator for CA, CO, NV and UT. I wanted to take a
minute to introduce myself and give you my contact information as well as to
invite you to call or e-mail me regarding any questions or interest you may
have in hosting a 2008 Women in the Outdoors (WITO) event in your area.
As many of you know, the NWTF prides itself in being a family oriented
organization. We have something for everyone. The NWTF has programs (and
memberships) for men, women, kids, and people with disabilities. Chapter
volunteers can implement some of these programs at the local level and
contribute directly to the mission of the NWTF. For example, many local
chapters choose to host additional events outside of their fundraising banquets
that provide people in the community with outdoor opportunities. These events
typically are for kids (JAKES events), women (WITO events), and disabled people
(Wheelin Sportsmen events).
Women in the Outdoors events can be fun and
very rewarding. Activities could include horseback riding, canoeing,
shotgunning, birdhouse building, survival basics and much more. WITO events can
be a great way to get women in your community involved in outdoor activities,
and attract additional committee members to help with local banquet
activities.
I am currently booking '08 events, so if you or anyone on
your committee wants to host or participate in a WITO event, please contact me.
I will be happy to provide the information and support you need to make your
event successful and fun!
I plan to be at the State banquet on Jan
12th, so if you are attending, please come by and introduce yourself. I might
also be hosting a break out session that weekend that will cover the ins and
outs of an event and share with you tips on hosting a successful event. I might
also have a few volunteers attend and can share their event stories/tips with
you all. (Frank & Nancy Hempen are you available/interested?) For those of
you that will not be able to make it to the state banquet, I might be able to
set up a meeting with you in December, so let me know and I will do my best to
accommodate your schedule.
Thank you and I look forward to meeting you
all.
Sincerely, Wendy Andersen Women's Regional Coordinator for
