COLORADO STATE CHAPTER 7TH IN L.A. DIXON CHAPTER AWARDS
4/26/2008

During its annual Convention and Sport Show in Atlanta Feb. 21 to Feb. 24, the NWTF presented the Colorado State Chapter with the 7th Place Award for "State Chapters with 2,000 to 4,999 members category" of the L.A. Dixon Memorial awards. The awards are presented to local, state and provincial chapters that set a standard of excellence for fund-raising to conserve the wild turkey and other wildlife and preserve our hunting heritage in 2007.

The L.A. Dixon Memorial awards are given in honor of a man who gave unselfishly during the NWTF's early years. Dixon founded the North Carolina State NWTF chapter, served at national, state and local levels and traveled thousands of miles at his own expense to share the NWTF's message with all who would listen. The NWTF honors Dixon's achievements through the L.A. Dixon Memorial Chapter and Banquet awards.

Chapter awards honor year-round performance, while banquet awards honor one-time banquet performance.

State Chapter Past President, Jim Hamilton, and current President, Frank Hempen, Jr., both noted the real winners of this award are the loyal, devoted, and hard working local chapter volunteers who have made the NWTF a recognized, respected, and successful conservation "force" throughout Colorado.
